Direct flights from Moscow to Shanghai are operated by Aeroflot and China Eastern airlines. The cost of a round-trip ticket without a transfer is from 80,000 rubles.
Russian citizens need a visa to visit the People's Republic of China. The exception is the holders of valid APEC business tourism cards - they can visit the PRC without a visa by presenting an APEC card. The APEC Business Travel Card Virtual Card resumes entry function from 1 May 2023.
Visas are issued by the Embassy of China in Russia (in Moscow) and the Consulate General in St. Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk and Vladivostok. Applicants, depending on the availability of free dates, may make an appointment at any consulate. There are no restrictions on the submission of documents by region.
Apply in person by appointment, a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate is required to visit the embassy/consulate. Registration on the site after filling out the questionnaire http://avas.cs.mfa.gov.cn
The visa fee depends on the type of visa and the urgency of its processing. Payment when submitting documents at the consulate (currently only payment by cards is available with a 2.5% commission for a bank transfer)
List of documents required for obtaining a visa for exchange, official visits, expeditions and other non-commercial activities:
- the original passport and a copy of the page with personal data.
Passport validity: at least 6 months at the time of applying for a visa;
- printed application form (filled out on the website: http://cova.mfa.gov.cn) + confirmation page for completing the online application form + confirmation of an appointment;
- a written invitation issued by a relevant organization or individual in China. The invitation must contain: information about the invitee (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.); information about the planned visit (purpose of trip, dates of arrival and departure, places planned to visit, description of the relationship between the invited and inviting organization or individual, financial sources to cover expenses); information about the inviting organization or individual (name or name, contact phone number, address, official seal of the organization, signature of the legal representative or inviting person);
- if there were previously Chinese visas in old passports: a copy of the page with personal data of this passport and copies of previous visas. If the name in the current passport differs from the previous one, the official document about the change of name.
