Shanghai is one of the routes to China's $20 billion seafood market.

From January to December 2018, the port of Shanghai imported 182 tons of seafood,
up 68.96% from 2017. Thanks to Shanghai, imported seafood can reach more than
228 million people, making up a significant portion of China's $20 billion seafood market.
For seafood exporters, the city is a golden gateway that opens up a huge
market for high quality water and seafood.

With a population of 1.4 billion, China is the largest country in the global food
and beverage market. According to the China Culinary Association,
the catering industry's operating income for the whole of 2018 reached
42.716 billion yuan, up 9.5% year-on-year from 39.644 million yuan in 2017.
China's catering revenue is projected to exceed 7 trillion yuan in 2023, amounting
to 716.7 billion yuan.

Direct flights from Moscow to Shanghai are operated by Aeroflot and China Eastern airlines. The cost of a round-trip ticket without a transfer is from 80,000 rubles.

Russian citizens need a visa to visit the People's Republic of China. The exception is the holders of valid APEC business tourism cards - they can visit the PRC without a visa by presenting an APEC card. The APEC Business Travel Card Virtual Card resumes entry function from 1 May 2023.

Visas are issued by the Embassy of China in Russia (in Moscow) and the Consulate General in St. Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk and Vladivostok. Applicants, depending on the availability of free dates, may make an appointment at any consulate. There are no restrictions on the submission of documents by region.

The visa fee depends on the type of visa and the urgency of its processing. Payment when submitting documents at the consulate (currently only payment by cards is available with a 2.5% commission for a bank transfer)

List of documents required for obtaining a visa for exchange, official visits, expeditions and other non-commercial activities:
- the original passport and a copy of the page with personal data.
Passport validity: at least 6 months at the time of applying for a visa;
- printed application form (filled out on the website: http://cova.mfa.gov.cn) + confirmation page for completing the online application form + confirmation of an appointment;
- a written invitation issued by a relevant organization or individual in China. The invitation must contain: information about the invitee (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.); information about the planned visit (purpose of trip, dates of arrival and departure, places planned to visit, description of the relationship between the invited and inviting organization or individual, financial sources to cover expenses); information about the inviting organization or individual (name or name, contact phone number, address, official seal of the organization, signature of the legal representative or inviting person);
- if there were previously Chinese visas in old passports: a copy of the page with personal data of this passport and copies of previous visas. If the name in the current passport differs from the previous one, the official document about the change of name.

Negative PCR or antigen test result (including self-testing with reagent kits) taken
no more than 48 hours before entry.
Test results must be uploaded to the WeChat app or https://htdecl.chinaport.gov.cn.
After uploading the test result and filling out the declaration, a QR code will be
generated, which must be shown at the airport of arrival.

Local authorities test arrivals if the information provided on the health declaration
indicates the presence of a disease or the arrival has symptoms of a new
coronavirus infection. Individuals who test positive are placed in home
or hospital quarantine or hospitalization.
Airlines flying to China must check with passengers for documents
confirming a negative test result.
